Grade 6 Ceili: Siege Of Ennis 

1. What type of dance is Siege of Ennis and how many dancers are needed? A progressive jig and any number of groups of 8 positioned in two lines of 4 facing each other.
2. How many movements is in Siege of Ennis and how many bars of music does it take to dance each movement? 4 movements and each movement is 8 bars long.
3. Advance & Retire? Using a promenade step (or skip 2-3s), each line of 4 take inside hands and move forward for 2 bars and then retreat for two bars. Repeat all once more to complete the movement.
4. Sides? Partners take inside hands and exchange positions with the couple next to them followed by The Rising Step. Couples sidestep back to original position and again finish with The Rising Step.
5. Explain The Rising Step: Bring front knee up to waist while hopping once and place behind the other foot while hopping once more. Place the new front foot behind the other foot while hopping once. Then step in place on the new front foot, step in place on the back foot, and then step in place on the front foot. Scat the rhythm: Up and back and back 2-3-4.
6. Right and Left Hands Across: The four inside people give right hands to center and promenade clockwise for 4 bars, drop hands to side, give left hands to center, and promenade anti-clockwise for 4 bars until back to original position. At the same time, the dancers on each end give right hands to one another and turn clockwise for 4 bars, drop hands, give left hands to one another and turn anti-clockwise until back to original position. 
7. Advance & Retire and Pass Through: Each line of 4 takes inside hands and advance & retire towards each other with a promenade step. On the second advance, line closest to the back of hall will raise hands to make an arch and allow the other line to pass through. Dancers will pass right shoulder to right and then face a new line of dancers.

Grade 5 Ceili: Walls of Limerick

1. What type of dance is Walls of Limerick and how many dancers are needed? A progressive reel and any number of groups of 4. 
2. How many movements is in Walls of Limerick and how many bars of music does it take to dance each movement? 4 movements and each movement is 8 bars long.
3. Advance & Retire? Using a promenade step (or skip 2-3s), dancers take inside hands and move forward for 2 bars and then retreat for two bars. Repeat all once more to complete the movement.
4. Half Right & Left? Ladies step out with left foot to side step through the center (facing one another) and finish in the other's starting position followed by two back 2-3s. Gents repeat the same side step, but step out with their right foot instead. 
5. Dance With Opposite: Gents give right hands to ladies opposite them and all side step to the gent's left (away from center) followed by two back 2-3s. All sidestep back to center followed by two Back 2-3s. 
6. ​Swing Around: Gents take crossed hands with partners and swing ladies  clockwise while moving anti-clockwise around the other couple until back into original position. (If there is more than 1 group of four, make sure inside couples complete an extra half swing in order to face a new couple).
